The specific results of ETSEIB have been presented corresponding to the survey conducted to students during the spring term of the academic year 2022-2023, which asked about the reasons for attendance and non-attendance, and what factors would help to improve attendance to ETSEIB subjects. The correlation between attendance and academic performance in the subjects taught during the fall term of the academic year 2023-2024 is also shown. In general, large differences are detected between the GETI, GTIAE and MUEI courses and the courses of specific masters such as MUEE, MUEN and MAUTO.

A study has been conducted on the various factors contributing to absenteeism at university level, such as academic perception, attitude towards the faculty and stress. This study highlights the increase in absenteeism in national universities, especially after Covid, as a significant challenge. This study aims to quantify the levels of absenteeism and identify its causes, particularly in large groups of university students. The results indicate dissatisfaction among students with face-to-face lectures, which are perceived as overly theoretical and of little practical relevance. The results are also compared with other engineering programs. The results obtained are important for improving the educational experience at FNB-UPC and potentially other METIs.

For a university environment to reflect enthusiasm, the presence of students is important. The study references other studies that explore reasons for absenteeism and its correlation with academic outcomes in higher education. Factors that include absenteeism include student academic perception, attitude towards faculty, academic performance, stress, group size, commitment and job satisfaction. The importance of class attendance in meeting STCW standards is emphasized. An outline is made on the ASAP-UPC project, which involves collecting student data, redesigning teaching methodologies, and implementing improvements categorized into follow-up activities, teaching innovation and content modification. The ultimate goal is to improve student motivation, learning outcomes, and transferability of good practice among METIs.

University class attendance has become crucial for institutional reputation and student engagement, particularly after the European Higher Education Area's 2015 establishment. A study by educators from the Barcelona School of Industrial Engineering affiliated with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (Spain) explores absenteeism, revealing high rates of absenteeism in large enrollment programs with traditional teaching methods. Students often find classes redundant and seek private instruction. Strategies like contextualized teaching and non-standardized exams show promise but need further evaluation for long-term effectiveness.
